Fielding re-elected to IEC Board of Trustees

Incumbent trustee Dr. Greg Fielding was re-elected by Indian Electric Cooperative members this spring, the highlight of the company’s first drive-thru district meeting. Fielding, who represents IEC District 4, has served on the board of trustees since October 1994. He retained his seat by defeating challenger Larry Brown.
“Thanks to all those who voted. I’ll do the best for you, the members, and the future of Indian Electric,” Fielding said. “And I do believe the future is bright for Indian Electric.”
Fielding is a Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) and a Board Leadership Certified Director (BLCD).
The IEC board of trustees is comprised of seven districts. Terms are for three years.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Cooperative leadership conducted the 2021 district meetings with social distancing in mind to protect members. Masked IEC employees manned the registration line at the Cleveland office from noon-6 p.m. on May 18. One member per account was given a ballot to complete while remaining in their vehicle, and employees distributed IEC hats when members drove to the ballot box.
According to the returns, 233 members participated, more than twice the number necessary for the Cooperative to satisfy quorum for the District 4 meeting.
Everyone who checked in was entered into a drawing for a $50 bill credit, which was won by Thomas Towell of Cleveland.
Keeping with the same precautions, the annual meeting for all co-op members will be conducted virtually in 2021 after last year’s event unfortunately was canceled due to COVID-19. Trustees have selected July 8 for the annual meeting, and it will be available for viewing at iecok.com. While there will be no registration prizes this year, registered members will be entered in 10 drawings for $250 bill credits. Winners will be notified by email and the credit will be applied to their account.
All cooperative members have equal voting rights and the opportunity to vote at IEC’s district and annual meetings.
